Vilsack Roundtable Unprecedented!  U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack discussed the reauthorization of Secure Rural Schools legislation with five members of Oregon's Congressional delegation and nearly 40 county commissioners from 24 of Oregon's 36 counties.  The roundtable was held in Portland, August 20th and you can learn more about it HERE

SPRING CONFERENCE -  Thank You!!  It was a great success thanks to all who attended.  We've posted the presenters' presentations for your edification and continued enjoyment.  We appreciate your participation and look forward to AOC's Annual Conference in Eugene in November.  
 
 
Broadband Mapping Project.  The Oregon Public Utility Commission (PUC) has a federal grant to collect information on the availability and use of broadband services in Oregon.  Please read the letter from the PUC about the mapping project and why it is important to Oregon counties.  You can read that letter HERE. 
 
Government Efficiency.  The Effective and Cost-Efficient Service Provision Task Force is up and running.  The Legislature established the task force to explore ways to make local and state government more efficient and effective.  For more information, please visit the task force web site.

The U.S. Government has granted $16 million to Oregon for broadband technology and education.  This is really good news for the continued development and deployment of high speed access to the internet in Oregon.  The Governor's office applauded the announcement.
